The past year has seen a fundamental transformation of the way leaders engage with their board members, management teams, employees, shareholders, clients, and other critical stakeholders. Communicating effectively as a leader is challenging in normal times, and these are far from normal times.
Live video delivers tremendous benefits in terms of reach, convenience, cost, and productivity. Time is the most precious resource of any senior leader and video allows them to make the most of every minute of their day. When COVID goes away, video will be here to stay.
That said, communicating effectively on live video also presents a number of profound challenges. There are no ‘do-overs’ on live video. Tone matters – a lot. Reading the room effectively can be nearly impossible. And given the impact their words and message have on their audience, the stakes are high.

HERE'S HOW THE PROGRAM IS STRUCTURED
Over the course of roughly one month, your leaders will commit between four and five hours of time to the pelotonRPM Executive Video Skills module. Given how busy their schedules are, our flexible approach allows them to conduct their sessions at their convenience.
01.
LIVE ONLINE GROUP KICK-OFF CLASSThe live, virtual 60 minute kick-off class combines instruction with active conversation between the learners. Topics covered include understanding why live video is here to stay, rethinking presentation tactics, common challenges of live video, special considerations for senior leaders, and what the best do better than the rest when it comes to live, video-based conversations.

ONLINE LEARNING MATERIALSWe make our growing library of online learning materials available to our learners and cover a full range of topics relating to effective video presentations. Our learning modules also include content relating to soft skills development, configuring your background and environment properly, understanding the key video platforms, and other live video best-practices.

SIMULATION #1 - SETTING A BASELINEThe first live video-based role play simulation, which will be 20 minutes long plus a 10 minute self-evaluation, will set a baseline for the learner’s live video capabilities. We can work with you to configure an effective simulation scenario that will resonate with the learners. Please note that this simulation will not require any material preparation time or pre-work.

COACHING SESSION #1 - TECHNOLOGYThe first of three coaching sessions, which will last for 45 minutes, will focus on helping the learner gain comfort, competence, and confidence using the main video applications. We will also review and optimize their settings.

COACHING SESSION #2 - ENVIRONMENTThe second 45-minute coaching session will help the learner understand how best to configure their lighting, background, and environment to ensure a professional look and feel for their video conversations.

COACHING SESSION #3 - SOFT / PRESENTATION SKILLSThe third 45-minute coaching session will concentrate on soft skills development (very different on video than in-person) and discuss a range of presentation strategies and tactics that will drive engagement and effectiveness.

SIMULATION #2 - CAPSTONEThe final 20-minute simulation is the capstone of the Executive Video Skills program and will allow the learners to apply the important lessons in a realistic, live simulated video conversation. Similar to Simulation #1, this will not require a significant amount of time or prep-work on the part of the learner. They will also need to watch their video and complete a self-evaluation.

FEEDBACK VIDEO CALLOnce Simulation #2 is finished, we will analyze the video and compile feedback. Each learner will then have a 20-minute feedback call to discuss what they did well, areas in which they can improve, and strategies they can consider to improve their effectiveness on live video. They will also receive a written summary of their performance.
